Innovasea has appointed Andreas Mintsios as managing director for the Mediterranean.

Working out of Innovasea’s dedicated office in Greece, Mintsios will play a key role in the strategic development and execution of Innovasea’s aquaculture operations across the Mediterranean region.

“Mintsios’s vast background and wealth of leadership experience made him the ideal candidate for this role,” said Innovasea VP Marc Turano. “His problem-solving and relationship-building uniquely position him to effectively support our current efforts and introduce new solutions that meet the needs of this strategically important area.”

Mintsios comes to Innovasea from Thraki SA, where he served as managing director. He also brings nearly two decades of aquaculture experience, having previously worked at HELPA S.A., first overseeing their partial RAS (PRAS) eel farming operations before helping the company transition to sturgeon.

With the launch of their sturgeon farm, Mintsios played a key role in creating Greece’s first successful farmed caviar operation in the modern era.

“I’m excited to return to aquaculture and proud to be part of a wonderful team committed to advancing and improving this industry,” explained Mintsios. “Aquaculture offers the unique opportunity to challenge oneself and find creative solutions to complex problems.”

In his new role, Mintsios will work closely with farms in the Mediterranean region to better understand their challenges and explore how Innovasea can help them unlock innovative, bespoke solutions. Mintsios will replace Diogo Thomaz, who will be transitioning from this position to focus on other key initiatives at Innovasea.

“Our goal is to deliver farmers the tools, solutions, and data that will allow them to leverage their own skills and expertise better,” added Mintsios. “By combining cutting-edge technology with industry know-how, we’ll be able to help farm operators create more efficient, effective operations. Furthermore, I am also excited to continue Innovasea’s legacy on R&D by partnering with universities and research institutions in the region who share our vision for sustainable aquaculture.”
