Cargill’s aquafeed operations in Canada have achieved Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard certification. This milestone makes Cargill’s operations in Canada the first feed operations in the country to achieve this globally recognized certification.
The ASC Feed Standard is a globally recognized benchmark for responsible aquaculture. Achieving this certification required rigorous adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, extensive supply chain mapping, and a comprehensive audit process. This certification provides ASC-certified salmon farms across Canada with access to certified feed, reinforcing sustainable practices within the region’s aquaculture industry.
“This certification reflects our dedication to advancing sustainability in aquaculture,” said Isaac Won Sub Yun, country director and commercial leader for Cargill Canada. “Not only does it provide our customers with certified feed options, but it also enhances our ability to prepare for future regulations. This achievement is a testament to the hard work of our Canadian team and their leadership in sustainability.”
This milestone aligns with Cargill’s broader aqua nutrition sustainability strategy. Following Canada’s certification, Cargill plans to certify its aquafeed operations in Norway and Chile by early 2025, with Scotland, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Indonesia, and Vietnam aiming for certification by October 2025. This timeline supports Cargill’s efforts to meet the ASC’s requirements and maintain its leadership in providing sustainable feed solutions globally.
The certification process demanded cross-functional collaboration across supply chain management, sustainability, and quality assurance teams. The process also strengthened supplier relationships, enabling them to align with Cargill’s sustainability goals.

By continuing to meet ASC requirements, Cargill ensures that its feed supports customers in meeting the October 2025 compliance deadline for ASC-certified farms.
