Pablo Mazo assumed the role of general manager of Benchmark Genetics Salten, the company’s Norwegian land-based facility that supplies salmon ova.

Mazo brings a strong background in the aquaculture industry, with experience in both Chile and Norway. He previously served as general manager of Benchmark Genetics Chile and most recently as performance and documentation manager at Benchmark Genetics Norway.

Before joining Benchmark, Mazo held leadership positions in technical departments at leading Chilean aquaculture companies, including Ventisqueros and AquaChile. He also worked in the technical department of the Chilean breeders' association, SalmonChile (INTESAL). With extensive expertise in genetics and breeding, hatchery production, and planning, Mazo holds a degree in Fisheries Engineering from the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile and a Master’s in Aquaculture from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

Ann-Kristin Skaugvold, the outgoing general manager, will take on a new role as senior advisor.
