The National Fisheries Health Agency (Sanipes) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Arizona to cooperate and promote research and activities related to shrimp health.
The executive president of Sanipes, Johnny Marchán, said that this cooperation will allow to develop collaborative work with researchers from the University of Arizona to receive technical assistance in the diagnosis of shrimp diseases, promote the exchange of specialists and researchers and propose in joint research projects.
One of the first actions will be to develop a research on the Infectious Hypothermic and Hematopoietic Necrosis (IHHNV) disease in shrimp, sequencing the strains isolated in the country and develop bioassays to know the impact on shrimp.
