Peruvian company, CORAQUA, together with the National Innovation Program for Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA), produced the first triploid trout eggs in the country. A group of national and international experts participated in the project. 

For the first time in Peru, CORAQUA will deliver triploid female fingerlings that will benefit trout producers in the country. Triploid trout, also known as sterile, shows better meat quality, growth to larger sizes (3-5 kg) and excellent fillet qualities since the energy is transferred to growth rather than to breeding.

“This project in Peru reflects the continuous work and success of CORAQUA's staff to keep us at the forefront of developing new projects with technology,” said CORAQUA's general manager, Jesús Jaliri.

“This project is very important for us since being able to produce triploid eggs will develop a new market niche for eggs in Peru, in addition to helping trout farmers obtain a product according to their requirements. After several years of work, and thanks to the support of PNIPA, we reached this milestone”, said project manager of CORAQUA, Ricardo Racchumi del Maestro. Walter Bravo, general manager of AIC Spa., also supported this project.
