The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agriculture), through the National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (lnapesca), opened a call for suppliers of tilapia fingerlings (Oreochromis spp.), rainbow trout fingerlings (Oncorhynchus mykiss), white shrimp postlarva, Japanese oyster seed or eastern oyster seed (C. gigas) interested in participating in the Aquaculture Genetic Resources Component of the program for the promotion of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture.
Producers must have the technical capabilities to provide the animals and a certificate of aquaculture health for their aquaculture facilities. Candidates have to submit a technical proposal describing the offered animals and the logistics for delivery and an economic proposal.
The objective of the Aquaculture Genetic Resources Component is to increase the capitalization of aquaculture economic units through complementary support for investment in equipment and infrastructure in hatcheries, acquisition of certified genetic lines and projects aimed at the genetic characterization of fish species of commercial interest.
