AgriGo Group, through its Moroccan subsidiary company AquaGo, signed two agreements for the construction of a marine fish hatchery in Tahaddart, in northern Morocco, with the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests and the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture.
This will be the first commercial marine hatchery in Morocco to offer local premium quality fingerlings of seabream, seabass and meagre with a production capacity of 10 million fingerlings per year.
“We are excited and honored to take this responsibility and become the first aquaculture suppliers of marine fingerlings in Morocco,” said Ramy Alon, AgriGo group’s chief marine biologist and CTO of AquaGo in Morocco.
With 13 million fingerlings per year currently being purchased by local fish farmers annually and additional new marine farms coming soon, AquaGo plans to increase its production capacity to 30 million within two years of operation. The project is being developed by AgriGo engineering team, technology supplier Hesy Aquaculture B.V., hatchery consultant Gidon Minkoff and Moroccan architect Faical Ettamiri.
