Innovasea, a global leader in technologically advanced aquatic solutions for aquaculture and fish tracking, purchased its existing office and manufacturing facility in Bedford, Nova Scotia for its fish tracking and aquaculture intelligence divisions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Built in 2012, the two-story building features 43,600 square feet of space, a mix of company offices and meeting rooms along with light manufacturing on the first floor. Innovasea has been the sole tenant there since 2013.

“The Bedford facility has been the ideal site for us to manufacture our best-in-class fish tracking and aquaculture intelligence products,” said David Kelly, CEO of Innovasea. “The opportunity to transition from tenant to owner made financial sense for a host of reasons and will also give us full control over how we can use the building going forward.”

Headquartered in Boston, Innovasea employs 135 people at the Bedford site, nearly 55% of its 250-person workforce. The Bedford building is where Innovasea makes its acoustic telemetry solutions for aquatic animal research and builds wireless environmental monitoring tools that give fish farmers real-time visibility into their operations.
