The Brazilian Federal Government published the Decree nº 10.576, which reduces the bureaucracy of the use of water in the Union domain for aquaculture, such as federal rivers, territorial sea, exclusive economic zone and hydroelectric reservoirs. The decree modernizes the management of aquaculture in these areas, speeding up the transfer processes and regularizing the situation of producers.

The use of these spaces for the practice of aquaculture may be requested by a natural or legal person to the Secretariat of Aquaculture and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), which becomes responsible for distributing the grants.

Brazil president, Jair Bolsonaro, said that fish farming in Brazil will become easier and that one of the advantages of the decree is that it will be made directly by the secretariat, without consulting the National Water Agency (ANA) for the process.
