ACI Agrolink, a subsidiary of the Bangladeshi ACI Group, plans to introduce SPF post larvae of black tiger shrimp into the market, local news reported. The initiative opens a new business line for the group that aims to enhance shrimp farming in the country and increase exports.
The SPF monodon fry is a joint effort between ACI Agrolink and MKA Hatchery. Monodon SPF PLs will be produced in Cox’s Bazar and marketed in the Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira district. ACI Agrolink will also provide technical support to farmers.
The company said that currently, black tiger PLs are hatchery-produced and wild-caught with a mortality rate of 70% compared to the 10% rate of its new SPF PLs.
