The Center for Responsible Seafood (TCRS) will host its third annual Shrimp Summit, set for June 22 - 25, 2025 at the Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua in Bali, Indonesia. The Shrimp Summit brings together the full value chain, including major buyers, to focus on practical solutions to critical issues facing the shrimp industry today.
The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) and the Shrimp Club of Indonesia (SCI) will co-host the Summit. Indonesia is the world’s sixth largest producer of shrimp, contributing 400,000 metric tons per year or seven percent of global production. It is also one of the top exporters to the U.S. Looking ahead, this archipelago country is well positioned to expand production, given its nearly ideal tropical climate, rich human resources, and a coastline that is the world's third longest.
“Key to Indonesia’s growth will be leveraging digital technology to improve performance, sustainability, and market access for smallholders who dominate production,” said George Chamberlain, TCRS president. “New digital technologies have created efficiencies and data transparency that are transforming the smallholder sector, which has historically been difficult to reach. This year's Shrimp Summit will explore how the TCRS Improver Program is beginning to have an impact in India and how its success can be expanded to Indonesia and beyond.”
This event builds on the momentum from the first two Shrimp Summits, which were held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Chennai, India. The core pillars of the 2025 program will be digital technology, improver programs for smallholders, and sustainable feeds. Other sessions will include global production and markets, breeding and disease management, growout intensification and regenerative systems, shrimp welfare, antibiotic residues and management, and innovation. New to the Summit’s format this year will be a trade show showcasing innovative, leading-edge solutions focused on sustainability.
Registration for the Shrimp Summit will include a welcome reception at the Grand Hyatt’s Coconut Garden on June 22 and a Balinese-themed gala dinner on the beach on June 24. Before and during the conference, optional tours will be offered for traveling companions who are not attending the conference. After the conference, TCRS will offer its signature two-day industry tour, providing visits to the full range of shrimp farming facilities near Surabaya.
