The Latin American & Caribbean Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (LACQUA 2023) will take place from April 18-21 at the Riu Plaza Hotel in Panama. The plenary speakers have been announced.
On April 19, Daniel Benetti, professor & director of Aquaculture University of Miami – RSMAS, will discuss Marine fish aquaculture in the Americas: From technological advances to commercial reality.
On April 20, Carlos Salinas, regional director for the Americas, US Soybean Export Council, will discuss Perspectives of oily seeds: The changing flows in the world market. “Driven by different sustainability policies and goals, the oilseed processing industry is undergoing significant change. With this in mind, global soybean meal flows will change substantially over the next five years. This will have a big impact on the relative value of the raw material in different feed formulations. This short presentation aims to better understand the possible implications of such changes,” Salinas said.
On April 21, Wilson Wasielesky Jr. from the Institute of Oceanography of the Federal University of Rio Grande will discuss Super-intensive shrimp farming in the BFT system: Structures and basic management.
The exhibition show will have a space of more than 80 stands and more than a thousand participants are expected to visit it. There will also be academic and technical sessions on topics such as aquaculture health, nutrition and food, genetics, production systems, and innovation and sessions focused on the cultivation of species such as shrimp, tilapia and marine fish.
