Aquafuture Spain, through its director Juan Lijó, has presented the program of conferences and presentations that will take place on Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21, at the IFEVI Vigo exhibition center.

The "Zona Franca de Vigo" Conference Room will host seven roundtables. Although the day and time of each have not yet been assigned, the topics to be addressed will be the following:

  • Implementation of the CSRD in the aquaculture industry: Addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the implementation of the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in the aquaculture sector.
  • Technology and artificial intelligence applied to marketing and production: Practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies in aquaculture, such as the optimization of production processes.
  • Increasing production for sustainable global aquaculture: Different strategies will be presented to increase the productive capacity of aquaculture in a sustainable and efficient manner.
  • Circular innovation in aquaculture: The integration of the circular economy in the aquaculture sector will be discussed with the aim of minimizing waste, taking advantage of byproducts, etc. Initiatives that transform aquaculture business models towards greater sustainability and profitability, through the reuse and recycling of resources, will be discussed.
  • Future food trends: Emerging trends in consumption and food preferences that affect aquaculture products will be identified. Changes in consumer demands, opportunities in international markets, and strategies to position aquaculture products as sustainable, healthy, and high-quality options will be discussed.
  • Alternative proteins: The development of alternative protein sources in aquaculture and advances in new ingredients such as insect-based proteins, algae, or agro-industrial process residues will be discussed, emphasizing their role in sustainability and reducing dependence on fishmeal.
  • Internationalization in the aquaculture sector: Strategies and tools for aquaculture companies, organizations, and institutions to expand into international markets will be discussed. Trade barriers, opportunities in emerging markets, and how to carry out alliances and collaborations that boost the competitiveness of the aquaculture sector globally will be identified.

Each roundtable will last one and a half hours with a moderator and four speakers and questions from the audience. All roundtables will have simultaneous English/Spanish translation for all attendees who need it.

The Aquafuture Spain Technical Sessions will be completed with two Presentation Rooms, where some of the exhibitors will give commercial talks and presentations of projects and studies.

The "Deputación de Pontevedra" and "Concello de Vigo" Rooms have already been reserved by companies such as Grupo Eurored, Sulzer, BioMar, Morenot, Ciimar, Flatlantic, Irta, Hipra, Lakse Systemers or the CIM - Uvigo.
