Leading Norwegian companies establish a global aquaculture technology hub

Tuesday, August 24, 2021

Ten key Norwegian players in aquaculture technology established the Global Aquaculture Tech Hub (GATH). Sølvtrans, MMC First Process, PatoGen, Cflow, Optimar, Hofseth Aqua, Rostein, Artec Aqua, Salmon Evolution, Møreforsking, Norconsult, Normex and Atlantic Sapphire joined the initiative that aims to establish a collaborative arena. The goal is to create an international competence hub for aquaculture that drives market-oriented innovation and makes the region globally attractive.

The network will be business and industry-driven and will strengthen the network and the region's world-leading expertise. Eventually, the hub will establish meeting places, create events, coordinate seminars or mini-fairs, company visits for customers who want to update themselves on the aquaculture technology that is being developed in Norway.

Sustainability and fish welfare will be central in the future and the hub aims to be the best in the world in this field. “There is considerable cutting-edge expertise and a complementary environment in technical solutions, IT fish welfare documentation and training, among others. The hub wants to develop this further,” GATH said.
