Norway and the other three countries that are members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) have signed a free trade agreement with Chile. The agreement gives Norway zero customs duty on all industrial goods and Norwegian fish vaccines.

“Chile is a large, growing market and an important trading partner for Norway, especially in sectors such as fisheries, farming, maritime transport and renewable energy. The new agreement will strengthen Norwegian companies' competitiveness in the Chilean market, and open up new opportunities for Norwegian business,” said Industry Minister Cecilie Myrseth.

The main objective is to stimulate increased trade and cooperation between Chile and the EFTA states. “Chile is one of the most important markets for Norwegian aquaculture vaccines. The new agreement gives duty-free treatment for Norwegian fish vaccines, that will benefit several players,” said Fisheries and Oceans Minister Marianne Sivertsen Næss.
