Marbase and Miawpukek First Nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the first lumpfish hatchery in Marystown, Canada, reported local news.
Marbase, a fully integrated aquaculture service hub, has already applied for a license to build a lumpfish hatchery which was approved in 2021. Miawpukek First Nations, which also provides aquaculture services, was also working on a plan to build a lumpfish hatchery.
Paul Antle, CEO of Marbase, said that Miawpukek had an idea for a design slightly different from the one proposed by Miawpukek, but that could improve efficiencies if they move forward together
