Genics is looking for an experienced shrimp industry technician for the role of aquaculture biologist to join its growing team of experts.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management of key global client accounts and ensuring client success in core areas of alignment with the Genics business model.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily engagement with the global client success manager on projects.
  • Provide on-site support for clients ensuring agreed protocols and procedures are adhered to.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to client’s management and technical teams, particularly in the areas of breeding (maturation, selection, artificial insemination, spawning), sampling (dissection, preservation and logistics for pathogen/disease monitoring and genotyping), and biosecurity (implementation and adherence).
  • Liaise with key clients to understand their challenges, and develop, document and implement solution-focused strategies.
  • Assess, understand and solve complex client problems to deliver practical commercial solutions.
  • Undertake national and international travel.
  • Close collaboration with cross-company teams like R&D and marketing to solve unique client challenges.
  • Continuous improvement of biosecurity and health management programs for key clients.
  • Support marketing with technical advice and know-how for content where required.

Requirements:

  • Successful track record in shrimp culture and knowledge of all life-history stages (broodstock, larval, grow-out and processing).
  • Experience in shrimp systems design and layout with a mindset of practicality, biosecurity and world best practices in line with commercial viability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Experience with standard business operational tools like MS Word, Excel, file management, etc.
  • Experience in the preparation of subject matter reports.
  • Must have current legal working rights in Australia.
  • English is essential. Other languages are seen as beneficial.
