Scottish Sea Farms is looking for talented people to join its state-of-the-art freshwater hatchery. The 17,500 m2 hatchery aims to produce up to 10 million smolts annually. Its location on the shores of Loch Creran, near Oban, means that young salmon can be transferred directly from hatchery to wellboat via a pipeline then transported to one of the salmon grower’s 42 marine farms around Scotland’s west coast, Orkney and Shetland.
Reporting to the RAS operations manager, the candidates will assist in the day-to-day running of the RAS facility with the responsibility for ensuring tasks are carried out to a high standard.
The successful candidates will have at least five years’ practical experience in fish husbandry and ideally two years’ experience in RAS systems. Candidates must also ensure that all tasks are completed in a professional manner adherent to strict health and safety requirements and practice good house-keeping throughout all activities.
Candidates should be educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area and understand the complex relationships between water quality parameters and fish health and welfare. Candidates will be highly organized, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and full of pride and passion for what they do.
In return, Scottish Sea Farms will offer an attractive salary and remuneration package including a pension scheme, life insurance cover, discretionary bonus, occupational health support, subsidized gym membership and a cycle to work scheme.
